on ceremony

firstly, cream the butter and sugar

together

then add the eggs,

and finally the dry ingredients

mix-a-mix till well blended.

scoop out balls of dough and

shape them any way you want.

and this, is when

the giggles begin…

“yours looks like a pile of poo!”

“mine looks like a giant blob!”

“it’s supposed to be a salmon?! who makes

a salmon cookie?!”

“that’s no turtle! that’s a rock!”

into the oven they go!

hot out of the oven, they come,

giant blobs of – well – Italian Knot Cookies

to

patiently cool on the rack

while icing and sprinkles are being

lined up.

now we dip

and sprinkle

and suddenly we have less than when we started…

more dipping,

more sprinkling

lots more giggles…

as we’ve come to the end of our

4 dozen creations.

flour all over the kitchen;

counters and floor a sticky mess;

and the sound of laughter still

hanging in the air.

the ultimate Christmas gifts:

love and cookies ♥️♥️

I had been searching and searching for an Italian Knot Cookie recipe that tasted like what I remembered the ‘Nuts making when I was a kid. (See category the ‘Nuts, for more on them!) And I found it. Sort of, because I tweaked it to our liking. See below.

It’s a very tasty, simple recipe to make — good to do with humans of any age; they freeze well, and are always a hit.

If you make them, note that the recipe calls for baking POWDER. “Someone” in my house learned the hard way that baking soda is not the same thing… haha! Buon appetito!
