because you bothered with us
we gained bounty;
because you shared with us
we lived;
upon this Thanksgiving Day
and every day — better together, we
thrive
may your life be filled with abounding love
happy thanksgiving 🧡
*Translation, “thank you,” in the language of the Wampanoags, who, according to history, are the ones who shared an autumnal feast with the Pilgrims in 1621. I intend not to glamorize history, rather to view the feast in the simplest of terms: We are better together. 🧡

postscript:
Thanksgiving week is upon us — how that happened, I haven’t a clue because I feel like it was just Halloween!
We’ll brine the turkey 🦃 tomorrow— @poundsturkeyfarm — and follow @marthastewart48 recipe; maybe even make the mashed potatoes, all so we can better immerse ourselves in the togetherness, as opposed to the busyness.
I’m not saying it’s easy, but years of practice (and wine 🍷🤭) have helped! So, whether you celebrate Thanksgiving or not, why not give those you love a little tighter hug this week. Cheers! 🦃 🧡
The photo is from Thanksgiving 2022, when we broke out Grandma Clare’s china. ☺️
