I wrote this, not to be sad, but to celebrate the love we had and still have for our sweet little kitty, Maci, who went to kitty heaven last evening.
Maci was a rescue, picked out at PetSmart (by my son), where she had come from Orphans of the Storm animal shelter. She was the sweetest little thing — ask anyone who ever met her. She grew up alongside my son and daughter (she and my daughter were twins in a way because they were only a month apart); and lived, what I hope, were 15 wonderful years with us. It was only in the last two weeks, that she went downhill very rapidly.
I’m posting this to honor her, and everyone out there who has lost a pet or has experienced loss in some way. I mean it sincerely when I say how grateful I am to have something to be sad about, because that meant how special Maci was to us. Long live your spirit, sweet girl! xo

In the photo with Maci is our dog, Mac – also rescued through PetSmart.
